About Collective Citizens Organized Against Lead
Collective Citizens Organized Against Lead is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to fighting against childhood lead poisoning. We partner with other non-profits, families, and volunteers who want healthy environments for all people, regardless of their background. Our mission is to educate people on the dangers of lead poisoning and to provide resources to those affected by it. With your help, we can make a real difference in our communities.
Our Leadership
Robin Brown, CCOAL Founder & Executive Director
Robin Brown is the Founder and CEO of Collective Citizens Organized Against Lead (CCOAL), formerly known as Concerned CitizensOrganized Against Lead. A dedicated parent whose adult child was severely lead poisoned, Robin brings deeply personal experience and unwavering passion to her advocacy and leadership in the fight against lead exposure.
For over two decades, Robin has committed both her personal and professional energy to developing and supporting programs focused on lead remediation and lead poisoning prevention. Through CCOAL, she has built strong collaborative partnerships with local and national stakeholders, advancing meaningful community-centered solutions.
As a keynote speaker and subject matter expert, Robin has presented on the impacts of lead exposure—particularly in historically marginalized communities—to audiences across the country. She has lectured graduate students at Cleveland State University under Professor Jemekia Holloway and worked alongside undergraduate researchers exploring the intersections of lead poisoning, redlining, and health disparities.
Robin’s scholarly contributions include co-authoring a chapter in A Population Health Approach to Health Disparities for Nurses. She also became a certified Private Research Investigator through Case Western
Reserve University, further deepening her commitment to
evidence-based advocacy and community-driven change
